Because of the special circumstances surrounding Rebecca's birth, Kovach Publishing owes a great deal of thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses who gave Rebecca a chance to survive. Beyond that, if it were not for the thousands of researchers who have steadily progressed our knowledge of the causes and treatment of prematurity, Rebecca would still not have had a chance at life.
Further, if not for the generosity of five English blood donors, Rebecca would have died due to her prematurity. Please donate blood. It's the best way you can save a life today.
It is for these reasons that Kovach Publishing will donate 30 cents from the sale of every book sold to the March of Dimes and 10 cents to the Central Blood Bank of Pittsburgh. I will also donate 10 cents from the sale of every copy of "The Journey of Rebecca Rose" to the Gloucester Royal Hospital SCBU.
To date, the following statistics apply (there have been 90 books sold):
| The Journey of Rebecca Rose | The Journey of Rebecca's Family | |
| Number of Books Sold | 90 (all sold through this
website)
|
Not yet available |
| Contribution to the March of Dimes | $45.00 | $0.00 |
| Contribution to the Blood Bank of Pittsburgh | $9.00 | $0.00 |
| Contribution to Gloucester Royal SCBU | £4.80 | n/a |
We also held a fund raiser on Rebecca's first birthday and I am currently trying to establish communication with personnel from Gloucester Royal Hospital to learn the best way to distribute the £900 we collected. The money is currently sitting in a UK bank account awaiting distribution. I have had an extraordinarily difficult time getting this donation to them. I have contacted the local newspaper and the hospital directly but generally get no response. If I can not find a way to donate the money to the Gloucester Royal Hospital I will donate 75% of the SCBU proceeds to the March of Dimes and 25% of the SCBU proceeds to the Central Blood Bank of Pittsburgh.
How do you know that I really will donate the money to charity? The tax records of my business, Kovach Publishing, will show all the donations to charity and they will be part of the public record. You don't have to take me at my word, you can also contact the charities directly to verify that I have donated the money I said I would.
